She was born in Prague, then Czechoslovakia, on March 31, 1922. As a teenager she joined the Czech resistance. In 1944 she was taken to Theresienstadt, where she put into practice the nursing skills she had acquired in a Red Cross course in Prague. She escaped shortly before liberation, returning to the Czech capital, where she found her sister and studied nursing. With the arrival of Communism she decided to go to Paris, where she met her husband. Together they emigrated to Ecuador and passed through several South American countries until settling permanently in Venezuela in 1971.

Judaism itself and the whole history of our people have to be a guide for us here, without beating our chest and without being exaggerated. Nació en Praga, entonces Checoslovaquia, el 31 de marzo de 1922. Siendo aún una adolescente se unió a la resistencia checa. En 1944 fue llevada a ñTheresienstadt, donde puso en práctica los conocimientos sobre enfermería adquiridos en un curso de la Cruz Roja hecho en Praga. Escapó poco antes de la liberación, volviendo a la capital checa, donde halló a su hermana y estudió enfermería. Con la llegada del Comunismo decidió ir a París, donde conoció a su esposo. Juntos emigraron a Ecuador y pasaron por varios países sudamericanos hasta instalarse definitivamente en Venezuela en 1971.

“Ser judío no es ser algo excepcional, pero ser judío significa que debes tener mayor actitud para sobrevivir desgracias y no dejarte vencer. El judaísmo mismo y toda la historia de nuestro pueblo tienen que ser guía para nosotros aquí, sin darnos golpes de pecho y sin ser exagerados. Ser judío es un honor, no debemos olvidar nunca que somos judíos”.
