Magda Weis de Hartman / Venezuela 2010
She was born in Olaszliska, Hungary, on December 12, 1917. Her mother died before the war when she was very young. In 1944, her father, siblings and other relatives were taken to a ghetto, and from there, almost among the last deportees, to Auschwitz. She was also in other camps: Plaszow, Breslow and finally Bergen-Belsen, where two sisters and a cousin died. At the end of the war she was able to emigrate to the United States, where she met her husband; after their marriage they settled in Venezuela.
Testimony:
"On the day of the liberation they only said: 'You are free. I couldn't think anything, I could only think about my two sisters and the three sisters with the child they killed, and my father and everything. I could only think that I was not going back to Hungary."

Nació en Olaszliska, Hungría, el 12 de diciembre de 1917. Su madre falleció antes de la guerra siendo ella muy pequeña. En 1944, su padre, los hermanos y otros familiares fueron llevados a un gueto, y de ahí, casi entre los últimos deportados, a Auschwitz. Estuvo también en otros campos: Plaszow, Breslow y finalmente Bergen-Belsen, donde murieron dos hermanas y una prima. Al finalizar la guerra pudo emigrar a Estados Unidos, donde conoció a su esposo; tras la boda se instalaron en Venezuela.

“El día de la liberación sólo dijeron: Están libres. Yo no podía pensar nada, únicamente pensaba en mis dos hermanas y en las tres hermanas con el niño que mataron, y en mi padre y en todo. Solamente podía pensar en que no iba a volver a Hungría”.
